F1 Challenge Race Day

It's lights out, away we go! What a great day of racing, presenting and teamwork on Tuesday, as we reached the pinnacle of the Year 5 F1 project. The children have worked so hard over the last 9 weeks; designing and manufacturing their racing cars, researching aerodynamics, building a portfolio of learning and writing speeches to present their designs. Today was the chance to show all of these things off. The teams did this brilliantly - wowing the judges with their knowledge and understanding across a range of STEM disciplines. The judging panel were made up from engineers from GKN, local business owners and school governors, who all said what a pleasure it was witness the children's enthusiasm and excitement.  A very interesting lesson today with Hamza who gave the children a great insight into the beliefs and life of a Muslim. He brought in a Qur’an and prayer mats and scarves.  The children asked some very interesting questions and said it was very interesting.

Today, Priory Class took part in a virtual workshop with this fabulous author. Sarah introduced the children to her new book - The Night Animals. This intriguing book is about Nora and the ghost animals and how they Nora when things go wrong at home.  Once the virtual learning had finished the children designed their own ghost animals.

RE Day

What an amazing day learning all about stewardship.  We began by looking at things that are precious to us and how we might treat them as well as what we do with precious things to keep them safe.  We then had a debate about if it is right to look after other people’s belongings. This was hard to answer for some depending on whether it was their siblings items or not.  Next, we watched a clip from Blue Planet raising awareness of pollution in the ocean. This led nicely onto our discussion how Muslims believe in creation and that we have been put on the planet to look after the Earth. Following this, the class looked at ways they could be good stewards.  A really enjoyable and informative day.
