Ash Randall - Freestyle Footballer

Image
What an amazing assembly we had today as Ash Randall came into to talk to the school. Who is Ash Randall you might ask? He is a freestyle footballer who has 25 world records. Ash originates from Cardiff.and he began freestyle at the age of 16 after seeing a commercial.  He brought excitement to the school and the children were in awe of his tricks and skills. Some of the children on the class loved when he skipped and headed the ball at the same time. Others liked when he took his beefy hat off his head and the ball stayed there.  So many great memories and ideas for the children to practice. Remember that to be as good as Ash, you need to practice, be patient and persevere.

Images online

Over the past sessions, the children have been learning about online images; the advantages and disadvantages. The children watched different scenarios as to whether they should choose A or B. A was a friend telling another friend not to send photos to a boyfriend as once they were sent they could retrieve them. Scenario B showed a friend advising another to not send the photos but they do anyway and then the couple broke  up and the pictures are posted online so all can see them.  This then has a negative effect on the girl and she struggles with her emotions and the comments made by other children.

Humanism

What an interesting day learning about Humanism and their beliefs. Humanists do not believe in a god or the after life. They believe in science as well as seeking happiness by treating others as they would want to be treated.  Our first part of the lesson was all about communicating what the children think a good life is as well as justifying it with their experiences. Then, they applied this and looked at where rules come from and how these can help them in their lives. This was then compared to how humanists might have a good life. Finally the children evaluated if it was important for humanists to live a good life and why we should respect their point of view.
