Learning objectives: I can learn the basic fundamentals of jumping and how to accurately measure jumps vertically and horizontally  This week the children in Year 5 looked at the standing long jump. We looked at breaking down the skill of broad jumps, first without using our hands and then with. After we had put all the elements together we got the mats out and practiced jumping on their.  This also gave children an opportunity to coach and evaluate their peers through watching. The children were extremely good at measuring their peers accurately.  Next lesson we will be getting out iPad to slow-mo video each person's jump and really critique technique.

Learning objectives: Can they show confidence in using ball skills in various ways, and can link these together? (Ga2) Can they pass in different ways? (Ga3)   The children started the session by recapping their passing from last week’s session,  practising their ball skills with rugby balls, attacking defenders and thinking about movement. We focused on attacking against a defender and how we can beat them in a 2:1 or 3:1. The children looked at ball movement, depth in attack and lines of running.  As you can see in the pictures the children loved this session and  got to grasp the fundamentals of rugby a bit better.

Learning objective:  I can begin to show confidence in using ball skills in various ways, passing and dribbling with success. (Ga1)  This week Year 5 looked at various passing techniques of rugby, specifically ‘pocket rocket’. After going through technique the children then were taught the rules of rugby in regards to passing backwards. Their progression throughout the lesson was brilliant. Starting in a circle, then progressing to their knees passing behind them. They finally moved on to running, catching and passing all in one movement.
